FOOTBALL SEASON, DUCTLESS HVAC SYSTEMS, AND MAN CAVES
Are you adding on to your home or renovating that clammy basement? Are you finally erecting a man-cave that will be the inevitable envy of every guy in your neighborhood? First of all, congratulations… you’ve earned it and we’re proud of you. Now, when making the plans for your fortress of solitude, we understand that it’s easy to get caught up in some of the more glamorous details.... How big do I want the mounted flat screen to be? How many speakers will I need? Should I put the nacho cheese fountain in the front or the back? While these questions are important and need to be addressed, it’s just as imperative to focus on issues that are a little less stimulating, such as heating and air conditioning.
If you’re adding on to or renovating an area of your home that is not connected to your central heating/cooling system, we strongly urge you to consider a ductless HVAC system. Ductless HVAC systems, or multi-splits/mini-splits, operate independently from central heating and cooling. This means that you don’t have to add more duct work to get your new addition comfortably heated and cooled, which is an exceedingly expensive process. A ductless air conditioning system will also save you a considerable amount of money due to the fact that they’re extremely energy efficient. In the average house, 25% or more of your energy is being lost to ductwork; however, if the ductwork is not present, there’s no opportunity for energy loss. A window AC unit or a baseboard heating system is sometimes a viable option for a new home addition, but unlike window units, ductless HVAC systems require only a very small hole to be drilled into the wall, making them less vulnerable to air leakage and security issues, all the while being much less visible and audible.
Ductless heating and cooling systems allow for much flexibility for your new addition, and there are many different units that you can mix and match to accommodate your specific needs. If you’re looking to efficiently heat or cool an addition or renovation to your home, contact Jordan Air for ductless air conditioning system inquiries.
