Global Shipping Issues Hit Supply Chain

International trade has been disrupted by the pandemic, driving up the cost and availability of goods. The HVAC / home services industry has been hit extremely hard.

Once widely available parts such as capacitors and coils face shortages as the demand increases. The Jordan Air parts department reports common replacement pieces that typically take 1-2 days to deliver are now up to 2 weeks out. This is only expected to get worse as temperatures rise.

Availability is not the only volatile part, prices have also increased due to shipping issues. Container ships carrying international goods are facing port backups as the demand for shipping stretches the demand for available containers.

The pandemic has disrupted trade more than once predicted. As the economy struggles to recover, the logistical nightmare has placed such pressure on the supply chain that many of our manufacturers are limited on what is available to install.

While Jordan Air jumps through hoop after hoop to ensure the best selection of heating and cooling products on the market, the higher efficiency systems are becoming increasingly harder to come by. By summer there may be no way to shelter customers from this issue.

Jordan Air General Manager, Nathan Jordan, has told managers to make sure customers are aware of this issue. “The last thing we want is to not be able to provide our customers with the parts and equipment they need,” said Jordan. “But all we can do is encourage customers to be patient with us and try to get their order in before the summer season because the forecast is looking like delays and price increases never before seen.”
